Ok so I'm back to blogging again and I must admit I'm pretty excited. This is my second time launching the Daily Peach blog. I don't know where it will end up this time around but I'm looking forward to this journey. I started the Daily Peach late 2011. Unfortunately I didn't stay consistent and the blog fell short. I had to close the site and I was so disappointed. I had to find it within myself to start over. I been wanting to start blogging again. Its just been about finding the time and getting organized.

I'm really not a morning person. When I get up, I usually struggle to get out of bed. Most of my time is spent sitting at the edge of the bed contemplating how tired I am and if I really want to get this day started. Recently I decide to do a few things to help with my morning moodiness. Of course I like to start my day off with a cup of coffee. Then I like to listen to music blasting as I take a shower. And when I'm getting dressed I started listening to podcasts on my iPad or catch up on the latest vlogs from my favorite Youtubers. All these things get me feeling real good as I'm about to start my day.

It can be hard to stay focused in a fast paced world. We live in a society where everyone is always on the go. With me sometimes I'm in and out and it feels like I don't have time to slow down. It's hard to get things done at times. When you're constantly on the go it can be extremely hard to keep things in order. So here are a few tips that will help you get organized. Things that you can do on a day to day basis or on your down time.

I got the pleasure to style a shoot with Click Models' beauty Lauriel and photographer Ernest Collins. Working on set with this group of creative people was such an amazing experience. I had so much fun on set. We laughed continuously, I felt like we were family although it was a professional setting. The highlight of the shoot was when Cynthia Baily of the Real Housewives of Atlanta called in to the photographer and wished us luck. Everyone on set was awesome. I picked out 2 looks for Lauriel, and she looked fab.

What is a wardrobe stylist, what do they do, and who needs one? Those are the questions that I typically run into. Not everyone understands the exactly the purpose of a wardrobe stylist. I remember recently having that conversation with mutual friend who manages a really awesome band. He invited a few of my girl friends and I to their live show. I expressed to him interest in working with the band as a personal stylist and his response was, “who needs a stylist, only people who have no sense of fashion need a stylist.” I opposed and we argued our view points but I understood where he was coming from. I feel like many individuals feel the same way when they think about a fashion/wardrobe stylist. At times I don’t like to share my dreams and why I pursued wardrobe styling as a career choice because I often get mixed responses. But it’s usually that people outside the fashion industry don’t understand it. It’s simple to understand what a makeup artist or hairstylist does and that’s probably why there are more well known hair stylist and makeup artist then wardrobe/fashion stylist.
    So who are wardrobe stylists? Stylists are generally fashionable people who have an eye for details, are good at staying up to date with the latest trends and designers, and are also very creative. Some people branch into styling from their own love of shopping and playing around with clothes. Others are designers who are constantly coming up with creative ideas. I am a little of both. I started styling by creating custom pieces for a few model friends and helping them put together outfits for photo shoots. My first major professional jobs were assistant gigs, but from there I started booking jobs through word of mouth.

    The job of a wardrobe stylist is not just based on putting nice outfits together or shopping for clothes. There’s so much more that goes into those simple duties. Shows like Styled by June and the Rachel Zoe Project have given people insight into the world of wardrobe styling, so others can see the details of the job, like pulling from designers, visiting showrooms, staying on top of trends, making deals, signing contracts, booking jobs, keeping clientele, etc. I often refer to myself as a ‘Style Artist’, because I see styling as a true art form that takes major work and creativity. That’s basically what my styling company MODE Artiste is based on, the art of style. My main goal when I’m styling is to create an emotion. I want the person wearing the clothes to feel extremely confident and I want people to see the looks I’ve created and say ‘Wow, I want that!” “Where did they get that?”or “Who came up with that idea?!” With those reaction, I feel like my job is done.

    Although I’m still building my career as a stylist, I have been fortunate to work with some great people. I still haven’t reached my peak or accomplished all my goals. I’m currently styling freelance but I would love to make it a full time profession. Just like any creative job it takes time, practice, and dedication. There aren’t many books on the business of styling. In the beginning I made a few mistakes and had to teach myself a lot of things the hard way. I recently made some changes and rebranded, hoping to take MODE Artiste to the next level. My new site and online store are currently in the works, set to launch later this summer.

I haven't blogged in awhile. I have actually been busy working on my accessory collection and doing the freelance styling thing. I have major goals I plan on accomplishing this year which has motivated me to stay busy developing my brand and my craft.

When I first started my collection I created a few sample pieces based on random things I found at supply stores, nothing was really organized or planned. I just wanted to see what I could come up with, which was a bad idea. Soon after I lost interest in completing the collection and became distracted with other projects. This time around I'm going back to the basic, like in middle school when I first found my love for fashion, I would spend hours drawing and sketching all my ideas. This way I'm more organized and I have a consistent flow going. Seeing the drawing makes me excited about bringing them to life. It's a overwhelming process but I know it will all be worthwhile and I cannot wait to share!

A few months ago I started watching the Extreme Couponing show hoping I would learn a few tips on saving money. When I saw how much these people were saving I was in awe, like "oh my goodness I have to try this." My mom usually gets the paper free from her job so I asked her to bring me the sales ad section. I decided to start off simple by using coupon for groceries here and there, just to see how much I would save. After a few failed attempts I finally got the hang of it, by learning each store's rules. Every store has different rules about coupons and ad matching, some lenient and some stricter than others. I've also realized that since Extreme Couponing's popularity has grown a lot of store updated their coupon policies, making it tough for consumers but there are always smart ways around it.
